Hello!
SO! What an exciting time to move back to London and with a weekend of festivities ahead I thought I would kick off the jubilee japes with my pal Katrina. So as soon as the Friday afternoon bell rang we set off for the Maritime Museum!
Now, I know what you are thinking tumblr-tots, a Friday evening in the Maritime Museum doesn’t sound particularly exciting but that is where you would be wrong! We had a fantastic time, the nautical themed Jubilee party featured a traditional seaside showing of ‘Punch and Judy’ (WOW, more on this..), ballroom dance classes, tours of the fantastic building ‘The Queens House’, a painless tattoo booth and cabaret! And pimms.. there was some de-blooming-lightful pimms too!

Stripy Sailors
So firstly, a painless tattoo booth I hear you ask!? Yes, this was a bit of a grand way of describing a man with some coloured markers, but his drawings were fab, I of course opted for a traditional sexy mermaid.. check out this bad boy!!

The highlight for me was trying to learn how to Jive, now I imagined that I would be Natalie & Scott when it came to this dance.. (if you aren’t down with strictly check this out its fab! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WthNtjQLNko)but it’s safe to say me and Katrina were more Barry & Paul Chuckle.. GUTTED! My school reports always put me down as a ‘try-er’ and I definitely lived up to reputation this evening and had a great time!
Punch and Judy.. I don’t know where to start!? I remember features of P&J from my childhood, but I don’t remember it seeming shocking or strange? Whereas today when 2 minutes into the show Judy kindly requested ‘If Punch hits the baby with his big stick, will you shout my name?’ I was somewhat taken aback! And even despite Punch killing off half the cast he still somehow is still the hero? BONKERS!! I am not saying I didn’t enjoy it though, it was VERY funny, however my enjoyment might have something to do with the continuous use of the ‘naughty’.. my favourite word!
Naughty, naughty, naughty, naughty, naughty, crocadile stay away from my sausages!
Big snaps to the Maritime, a fantastic evening in a truly beautiful venue! And thank you to http://londonist.com/ for all the great tips on what is cheap/free to do in London, brilliant shout!!
So that is my Friday news, I am looking forward to the London Eye with Mama Nelkon tomorrow, so more to come very soon I am sure! I will leave you with a couple of pictures that show how nice the building was this evening :)
Love Carys x
